Laramie project

"I was really jolted because, you know, when we did the vigil- we wanted to get other ministers involved and we called some of them, and they were not going to get involved."(Father Roger Schmit 28)

As the bible says in Leviticus 20:13 - "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads." word for word, taken literally the bible says homosexuality is not only a sin, but one that is punishable by death. This is why the other ministers in Laramie wouldn't hold a vigil; they thought that because he was gay he doesn't deserve to go to heaven. the fact that they don't believe Matthews sexuality is moral, doesn't mean they shouldn't mourn for the loss of his life. In James 3:9 the bible says "We are all made in His Image and God made us the same! Before you were formed in your mother's womb He knew you, even before the foundations of the earth were laid He knew you and He made us all equal with the same capacity to do great things just like Him." He is still a human, therefore created in the image of God, and his life is equally as valuable in Gods eyes as that of anyone else.  The life of a 21 year old man was brutally taken from him, and under every circumstance that is a terrible crime to the world. He should be mourned, and the fact that the ministers refused to preform that little service, which is their job to do, is a disgrace to any and all churches they may belong to. You cannot claim to have a close relationship with God, and speak his word if you do not uphold his values. Even if they agree that homosexuality is a sin punishable by death, one of Gods children was taken from the earth before his time, and should be mourned.
